Mumbai, March 8, 2018: On the occasion of Women’s Day, Fadoo TV in collaboration with Cinepolis India, brings to you #WakeUpIndia, a 58 sec film that reminds every woman of those times when no bystander, no passer-by, no onlooker came to her rescue, to help her, to save her. It is a reminder to each and every one of us about why we didn’t raise our voice when an innocent life was being abused in a public place. This Special video will be played in Pan India theatre of Cinepolis cinemas.
Every year, Women’s Day Week is celebrated with a lot of cheer, and with innumerable slogans and hashtag campaigns running across various social media platforms. Ironically, all those campaigns and slogans, and, more importantly, the intention behind each of them, die down within days. But this Women’s Day Week, #WakeUpIndia promises to be an awakening that refuses to fade away anytime soon.
Speaking about the #WakeUpIndia campaign, Raaj Konaar Founder of Fadoo TV and director of film says, “Through #WakeUpIndia, we want to awaken the women who have experienced any kind of violence or exploitation, no matter how big or small it may have been, and want them to share their experience with us. And above all, we want to wake up the conscience of those people who didn’t bother to bat an eyelid and didn’t do anything to save a woman’s modesty. They need to understand that what is happening to an unknown woman today, could happen to their mothers, sisters, wives or daughters tomorrow. And the only way to stop such heinous crimes is by being bold and going all out to protect our women.”
Aishwarya Sandeep, Advocate, and Co-Founder, FadooTV.com, shares, “Often, when any crime is reported in our country, we first start blaming the victim itself and then come on to society and the judiciary system. The one thing that we forget is that many a time, crime can be avoided if our society becomes proactive. The law and order comes later, it is the society who is presently witnessing the crime and its aftermath. Had our society changed their pattern of thought and raised their voice against such adversities, a lot of problems would have been resolved.”
This Women’s Day Week, we want to hear your story. We want you to share your story on how nobody reached out to you. Or, we want to know how you didn’t bother to reach out to someone. It’s never too late to wake up and stand up. We pledge to protect the dignity of every woman on Women’s Day… and on every single day.
The #WakeUpIndia video is being screened exclusively at Cinepolis Cinema Houses across India.
