GOS THOVAIYAL

Roughly chopped cabbage : A bowl full ( pl see the bowl in the pic )
Dried red chillies : 4 or 5 nos
Urad dal : one to one and half handfuls
Oil, Asfoetida , turmeric and mustard seeds for seasoning
Tamarind : to the size of a rupee coin . ( qty can vary according to taste)
Salt to taste

Method :

Add 2 to 3 teaspoons of oil in a pan. When the oil is hot enough, add mustard seeds, asfoetida , red chillies and urad dal . Sauté for a few minutes until the urad dal turns slightly brown . Add chopped cabbage , tamarind and turmeric and keep frying it until raw smell goes away. When the cabbage has lost its rawness , you could allow the mixture to cool and grind it to make it an awesome chutney .

Ps: please add very little water to the mixer because cabbage inherently has water in it . Pl see the consistency and accordingly add . Salt can be added while frying or in the end after grinding .
